The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), will hold two Retreats, one for National Commissioners and another for the review of the Implementation of the 2012-2016 Strategic Plan.
The Retreats are scheduled to hold from Monday, 16th January to Wednesday, 18th January 2017. They are to take place at the Intercontinental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Chairman of the Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, is expected to deliver the welcome address, while the Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman, Professor Bolade Eyinla, will real out the Retreat Objectives and Expectations.
Some of the papers to be presented include: Overview of Innovations in Election Management in Nigeria, Present, and Future, to be delivered by Prof. M.J. Kuna; and Safeguarding the Independence of Election Management Bodies (EMBs): Lessons for INEC, to be delivered by Professor Bolaji Owassanoye.
Others are: Reflections on Post-2015 Elections and looking forward to Anambra Governorship Election, to be presented by Professor Sam Egwu; Public Procurement and its implications for INEC: Presentation of the proposed INEC Procurement Template, to be presented by Dr. Lawal Ismaila; Enhancing the Role and Performance of INEC Field Officers in the States and Local Government Areas, to be presented by Professor Adele Jinadu; Public Procurement and its Implications for INEC: Presentation of the proposed INEC Procurement Template to be presented by Dr. Lawal Ismaila; and Election Management Bodies: International Perspectives and Best Practice, to be presented by IFES Consultant
