INEC Inaugurates Committee on Election Project Plan

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has inaugurated a sixteen member Election Project Plan (EPPC) Committee charged with the responsibility of implementing the Commission’s 2017-2021 Strategic Plan of action.

At a brief inauguration ceremony held at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja, the Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu congratulated members of the Committee and charged them to ensure implementation of 2017-2021 Strategic Plan.

He said the committee was saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the Commission achieved its aim of making the 2019 general elections better than 2015.

Responding on behalf of the committee, Chairman of the Committee and National Commissioner, Professor Okechukwu Ibeanu said it was a privilege to carry out the national assignment.

He observed with optimism that the Commission was focused and working to raise the bar set with the conduct of the 2015 general elections. He assured that the Committee would carry out its assignment with all sense of responsibility.

The Committee has the following as its terms of reference: Coordinate all Departmental and State inputs into the planning of elections; monitor the performance of the two year budget estimates for the general elections, identify gaps and advise the Commission appropriately; produce a comprehensive cost-effective Election Project Plan (EPP) for the Commission’s Approval; ensure the integration of the EPP and the EMS for effective implementation and monitoring; and Provide quarterly progress reports on implementation of the EPP up to Election Day.
